What a great day for nest box cleaning, sunshine and warm for this time of year. We had a great time. We divided in to two groups and started from the opposite ends of the nest boxes and met half way. Usage from birds was down but we found some very interesting items within the boxes. Some were filled with moss that was used by mice or squirrels for winter nests. One Wood duck nest box contained a lot of rose hips. In another we found a hard mass of larvae that was glued to the inside and roof of the box. Sitting on this mass was a spider. Not sure if the spider was related. Here are some pics.
